King Charles III, the current monarch of the United Kingdom, has recently acquired a new racehorse named King’s Ginger. The 2-year-old filly, sired from the former seven-time race winner and Class 1 race-winning horse Kingman and the fourth foal out of Australian Grade 1 winner Sweet Idea, is trained by William Haggas and is set to make her maiden start on Saturday, September 30, in the 4:15 at Newmarket in the Class 3 Blandford Bloodstock Maiden Fillies’ Stakes.
King’s Ginger’s name has garnered attention from horse racing fans on Twitter, with many joking that it has been named after Prince Harry. Despite the humorous name, there are high expectations for the filly, and racing fans are eagerly anticipating her debut.
Among the entered horses in the upcoming race, Get Jiggy With It currently has the highest Racing Post Rating off the back of two second-place finishes in its first three races. However, with the royal colours on her back, King’s Ginger is sure to attract a lot of attention from punters and racing enthusiasts alike.
King Charles III has a long history of involvement in horse racing, and he continues to follow in his ancestors’ footsteps with his love for the sport. In August, the king and queen celebrated as their superstar horse Desert Hero landed the huge £113,000 prize at Glorious Goodwood with Charles and Camilla both in attendance.
